How it all begins…

The pain from the past came haunting, knocking at my soul . . .

E.S.

The two-story white house winks its green shutters at me, welcoming me home as though it's missed me as much as I've missed it. I smile as I approach the house set back on the inside of a rounded corner, a large oak placed perfectly between the front and side yards. There is a tire swing hanging from a tree in its lush and colorful garden and a Japanese cherry blossom that blooms magnificent purples and pinks for one month out of the year. A breeze kisses my cheeks.

Everything is perfect . . . except one thing.

My dead dad is standing in the driveway.

What Readers Say

"Life changing. As a therapist, I have experienced clients that want to share what books they find helpful or that have impacted them along their own journeys. A young client shared a copy of this book with me, and I will never be the same."

— B Russ

"The Things We Cannot Change is by far one of the best books I've read in 2024. The story will break your heart and then slowly put it back together again."

— Lisa Loves Books

"When I say this book destroyed me, I'm not kidding…"

— Renee

About The Things We Cannot Change

Nearly a year has passed since Callie's father lost his battle with alcoholism. If you ask her, everything is fine (thank you very much). She's almost done with her first year of college, and she's nearly succeeded in locking away the painful memories of her father and their life together. Never mind the recurring nightmares haunting her every night since his death.

Or the sudden appearance of his ghost.
